In 2002, Rod and Sarah Martin traveled to Guatemala to visit the baby girl they were in the process of adopting. During the trip, they visited several orphanages including the home where their daughter lived. They recognized there was a great need for a support network.
​
​Since that visit in 2002, with God’s help and much support, ORI has grown to serve over 50 orphanages and take multiple work teams a year. After hearing about the abuse many of these children have had to endure before living at the orphanages, we have started the Steps of Hope Counseling program. We hope to expand the program to offer counseling to all the homes we support.
